Defibrillation can make your heart resume a normal rhythm pattern after experiencing a ventricular fibrillation by applying an electric discharge at adequate intensity for the heart.
The positive outcome and survival of a person in a ventricular fibrillation state depends on the speed of the rescue: every passing minute is vital to the resuscitation of a patient. Rapid applications of charges by a defibrillator as soon as a heart attack is detected, increases the patient’s chance of survival.
There is a worldwide action protocol called “Survival Chain” consisting of four phases:
- Immediate alarm via 118
- Activation of basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation pending the arrival of adequate rescue
- Early Defibrillation
- Advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation intervention
Surgical operations on cardiovascular disease patients at Lariano Stomatology are always performed in the presence of a resuscitation anaesthetist doctor.
