Day of the surgery

Patients are received in our structure after the surgery has been planned and then are prepared to the operation.

Case history is updated, exam results are re-checked and a soft sedative is given to the patient.

This is the course :

  • medical visit

  •  preparatory room
  • operating room

  • recovery room

  • post-operatory observation

  • discharge on the same day

The operation starts after the patient is visited and the exam results are checked.

The patient gets through the day surgery entrance and is taken to the preparatory room where he has to wear a sterile overall , a cap and footwear , then he is given a soft sedative by the anaesthesist and is taken to the operating room by the surgery assistant.

The surgeon and anaesthetist enter in the Day-Surgery and wear overalls and clogs in the changing room ; then reach the washing room where they wash their hands and arms ; then they wear caps , footwear , surgical masks , overalls and sterile gloves : now they are ready to operate.

When operating in controlled analgesia patients breathe spontaneusly and answer to eventual commands . After the operation, which he won’t remember, the patient is taken to the observation room.

After a surgery the operating room is sterilized : textiles and dirty materials are stored in special containers in an adjacent room ; then they will be taken outside by our staff . The tools are taken immediatly to the sterilization area.

After taking off overalls, caps, masks, footwear and gloves, surgeons go to the relax area . After completing an eventual post-surgical prosthesis , patients will be dismissed in the same day.

The first post operatory check up is usually completed in the following 24 hours.
